At Zibreira, between the Atlantic and the Mountain of Montejunto, at the Oeste region of Portugal, an entrepreneurial couple made use of centennial wineries and ancient tastes to create a unique portfolio of terroir wines, celebrating the harmony of humanity and nature.
Eva and Artur, the young owners of Quinta da Boa Esperança, accomplished an auspicious and solemn mission when in 2014 they ventured into viticulture, using the lands they have inherited.
Artur had experience in the business, specially exporting to various continents around the globe. To the old vines, which waited for him with irresistible appeal, he added his talents as a businessman, which helped the restoration of the wine house and to assemble a flawless team.
At those limestone soles, with strong maritime influence and a Mediterranean climate, they have found the perfect conditions to create the white wines, part of the region’s traditions. The most sheltered area balances that Atlantic influence, characterized by high temperatures, originating fresh wines, full of character.
The singular production, the use of ancient yeasts and the moderate use of chemicals translate an attitude of respect for the nature and for the terroir, confirming the authenticity of this unique project.
Thus, this portfolio, with stimulating reds, whites and rosés started its ways, ennobling the Lisbon wines. A highlight should be given to Colheita selecionada red, a blend of Bouschet, Aragonez, Castelão, Touriga Nacional and Syrah. A complex wine, with personality on its color and hints of dark fruits, showing firm tannins and a long ending. The varieties of Syrah, Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet reveal a noble character and an intensity, demonstrating the excellence of the winemaking.
Amongst the whites, we have to talk about Arinto, Fernão Pires and Sauvignon Blanc, award winning wines with international fame, exhibiting the best these castes have to offer. Reserva White, a blend of Arinto and Fernão Pires, shows a citrus color, soft and delicate aromas with great complexity. Fresh on the mouth, it is a structured and intense wine, having already conquered distinctions from Decanter and International Wine Challenge.
At Quinta da Boa Esperança the wines mature prosperly. To Artur and Eva, it is now the time to collect the fruits of hope with the help of the sweetness of this special land.
