Monte da Raposinha Athayde Grande Escolha 2017 (Magnum) Red
In Montargil, to the north of Alentejo, the Ataíde family has dedicated the ancestral patrimony they owned there to a noble cause: the production of high quality wines. The commitment they have shown ever since, with the help of the prestigious oenologist Susana Esteban, shows in the wine guides and in the fervor, always renewed, of the connoisseurs.
Influence of the Montargil dam which is located 800m from the property, creating a cooler and more humid microclimate. Vineyards with rolled pebble soils evidencing the former presence of a river.
Concept
A more complex range of wines designed for the table. Without losing elegance, barrel aging adds structure and complexity, making them very suitable for even more intense dishes.
Vinification
Manual harvest into 15kg boxes. Total destemming with light crushing after careful selection of the grapes on the sorting mat. Alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures. After aging for 18 months in used French oak barrels, the best barrels are selected to incorporate this Grande Escolha blend. It aged for another year and a half in the bottle.
