Monte Bluna Reserva 2021 Rosé
The best wine, when nature wants it!
How many of you remember ever having a DOC Arruda wine in your glass? Surely very few. Rescuing the centuries-old prestige of this region with a profound vocation for wine production is part of the aims of the very young Monte Bluna project.
Monte Bluna starts its journey in 2015, with the purchase of a small vineyard of Aragonez, aka Tinta Roriz, with more than 40 years old. From the almost entertainment and taste for the good things in life of its founder, who upon making the first wine in 2016 realized that quality could be a serious case.
Vinification
Monte Bluna Reserva Rosé 2021 is a blended wine from the Aragonez and Tinta Miúda grape varieties. Aragonez and Tinta Miúda were harvested by hand, with choice, into small 20 kg boxes. In the cellar, the grapes were again chosen by hand and then destemmed. Crushing - passive - was the result of transport to the press, where they underwent a short maceration and gentle pressing. They were fermented together at room temperature. The aging regime was reversed, having first aged 5 months in stainless steel and then 4 months in used 225 L French oak casks from the Allier forest, with various low-intensity toasting regimes. They aged in these same casks until the day of their bottling on June 8, 2022, having started marketing in 2023. To preserve its quality, Monte Bluna Reserva Rosé 2021 was bottled without treatment, thus being able to give rise to the formation of a natural deposit.
