Herdade do Freixo Special Edition Petite Syrah 2019 Red

In the depths of Alentejo, between Évora and Serra d'Ossa, lay thirteen hectares of ecological land where the vine lives alongside the grazing, the mounted and the cork oak, millennial olive trees and where some extremely rare specimens live, such as the black stork, in a privileged habitat. In this unique terroir, at an altitude of 450 meters, that some of the most interesting wines of the region are produced under the experienced hand of Pedro Vasconcelos e Sousa, in a subterranean cellar. 

Vinification
Vine from the floodplain, with a cooler micro climate than the region and predominantly schist soil.
The grapes are harvested at their ideal state of maturation in 20 kg boxes. The entire process takes place by gravity into the temperature-controlled, temperature-controlled, conical stainless steel fermentation vats with mechanical steppers. Fermentation takes place for 10 days with a controlled extraction in order to extract the best of this variety's must, providing this wine with characteristics of intense quality fruit.
It is then aged in new French oak barrels for 12 months, which gives it structure and balance.
