This Vintage is the first experience of Quinta do Couquinho in the production of Port wine.
A tribute to Maria Adelaide Melo e Trigo, the main project enthusiast that belongs to the three brothers that have achieved national and international recognition with its range of excellent wines from the Douro Superior region, all classified as Denomination of Controlled Origin.
Origin of grapes:
Old vines of the property are dominated by Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca and Sousão.
Vinification and aging:
After we found the perfect balance in the grapes these are harvested by hand in 18kg boxes in order to ensure maximum protection in transport to the winery.
After they are partially stripped and crushed a traditional step (men or women) for 4 hours. The steps of the process is repeated throughout the alcoholic fermentation to fortification with grape brandy, which is carefully chosen by winemakers.
After the fortification, port wine rests in stainless steel tanks until its bottling.
