Quinta do Poeta is a very recent family wine project in the Douro region that is a tribute to the poet Fausto José dos Santos Júnior.
Fausto José (1903-1975) was a contemporary of Miguel Torga, José Régio, Alberto Serpa and Branquinho da Fonseca. He left a vast literary work, especially poetry. He was born in Aldeia de Cima in the municipality of Armamar, on the left bank of the Douro, where he grew up and began the studies he completed at the University of Coimbra, where he graduated in Law, an area in which he carried out a good part of his professional activity, while building his literary work.

Vinification
The grapes for the vinification of Quinta do Poeta white 2021 come from a vineyard that is over 60 years old, with exposure to the north and east, at about 450 meters of altitude and with a mixture of grape varieties, with a predominance of Côdega do Larinho and Rabigato . The harvest took place at the end of August. The grapes were transported in 22 kg boxes to the cellar and rigorously selected. The grapes were destemmed and gently pressed without maceration. The must was decanted at a low temperature, around 10ºC, for around 48 hours, and then around 50% fermented in used 228-litre French oak barrels. Subsequently, and without carrying out malolactic fermentation, Quinta do Poeta aged in the same barrels for about 9 months, in contact with the fine lees and without batônnage.
