In Salvaterra de Magos, two brothers, Thomas and António Vieira da Cruz, defy time and make wines that seek to bottle pieces of land. We are talking about a small family property in Salvaterra de Magos, Terra Larga, where Areias Gordas wines are born.

Winemaking Process
Grapes purchased in the last year of this vineyard's life - less than 1km away from Terra Larga, very similar terroir with more sandy soil - at the time over 50 years old, and with the blend of grape varieties already made in the vineyard and traditional in the region, Grand Noir, Castelão and Trincadeira, with a seasoning of Touriga Nacional and Cabernet Sauvignon from our own young vines.
Maceration and complete alcoholic fermentation in a foot-treading press, without destemming.
Winter and spring aging with French oak wood. Filtered for the bottle before the heat of the first summer.

Tasting

Stewed meat, game dishes, cod in the oven.

Medium intensity ruby color

With liveliness on the nose, with an aroma full of complexity, even with light fruit dancing harmoniously with well-cared-for furniture wax and a light animal touch, not leather, but fur game.

In the mouth, the lively harmony continues, with more pronounced red stone fruit, and qualitative tannins that are very present and softened by time, with persistence and final length.
